DOCUMENTING EVERYTHING

In a world full of fleeting moments and incredibly fast paced lives, we often forget to appreciate the little things that bring us joy. Whether it’s a spontaneous days out with friends, a family gathering, or a quiet moment that filled your cup, life passes by in the blink of an eye. But what if we could freeze those precious moments in time - capturing not just the visual, but the sounds, the emotions, and the atmosphere? Well, we can!

Capturing videos is such a staple in my life as it freezes moments in time, not only for me but for future me. It’s a personal time capsule!

We often take photos to preserve memories, but videos have an unmatched power to capture the heart of a moment. The sound of laughter, the tone of your voice, and even the background music or chatter - these layers of sensory details can take you back to a time and place in a way that still images can’t. Videos tell a story, and sometimes, it’s the unspoken moments - the pauses, the laughter, the way we look at each other—that hold the deepest meaning.

By documenting videos, you’re creating a time capsule that you’ll be able to revisit in the years to come. The power of video is that it helps you remember how you felt, not just what you saw. There’s something magical about watching a video from years ago and suddenly being swept up in the same emotions and energy you felt in that moment.

One of my favourite aspects of documenting videos is the opportunity to relive moments you might have forgotten otherwise. Over time, memories can fade, and the details blur. But a video can help revive those fleeting moments with a vividness that’s often more accurate than our memory.

Imagine watching a video of a holiday you took with friends or a birthday celebration from years ago. The laughter, the inside jokes, the moments that you thought would be lost to time - they all come rushing back!

It's like being transported back to that very day!

You might even notice new details you missed before - maybe a look someone gave, or a funny interaction that didn’t make an impression at the time, but now feels so important.

Documenting videos isn’t just about creating memories for yourself. You’re also creating a legacy. These videos can be shared with loved ones—whether it’s family members or friends- providing them with a glimpse into your world.

Future generations may look back at your videos, learning about the joys and everyday moments that shaped your life and who you are! It’s a way to leave a personal footprint that can be cherished for years to come.

But beyond the legacy you leave for others, there’s a deep value in reflecting on your life and appreciating different moments. So many times I have watched videos back and only when reminiscing have i realised how truly precious that moment was. Not to bring the pandemic memories back, but, in lockdown, what got me through was reminiscing on how lucky we had been. How lucky we were to see each other whenever we wanted, to hug, to laugh, to sing. Realising actually, the mundane moments are the most precious.

To finish, taking videos is actually much deeper than we might first assume. Today, we have amazing accessibility to be able to preserve memories, that generations before us have NOT had! Treat it like it's precious because... IT IS! We have a pocket sized, memory capturing device on us at all times - use it!
