Oh what i’d give…
You know those moments, days, holidays that you think, what I’d give to just relive that one more time? For me, one of those moments is a weekend away I had back in 2023. Lucy and myself planned a getaway to somewhere in Yorkshire we’d never been, it was only an hour and a half away from home but we just needed to GET AWAY. We stumbled upon a shepherds hut Airbnb in a place called Stean and just decided to book it, best decision ever. Now, whenever I go away with Lucy, it tends to be the most amazing and relaxing getaway, this was no different. Not only were we blessed with AMAZING weather, but we had booked a getaway in one of the most serene, quiet places I have ever been to (excluding Uist of course). Before we went away we’d pinned this weekend as a time to just reset and reconnect with ourselves. We brought books and our bibles and really shut off from the world. I have NEVER felt peace like it. Waking up to the birds singing and the cattle on the hills ahead with not so much a whisper of humanity. Opening the large double doors and feeling the heat on our skin, not a bit of wind in sight. Making coffee and sitting outside reading a passage of scripture. Lapping up the endless hours, pottering around the hut or exploring the gorge at the bottom of the fields, which was the most amazing find ever! Hard hats on, we explored a cave just the two of us. That part however, wasn’t peaceful - being left to explore a cave solo… terrifying. When we weren’t in caves, we were up on the moors, being creative with photography. At sunset, we walked across the fields in Birkenstock and only a jumper to keep us warm, walking across freshly green fields, littered with sheep and nothing but farmers land for miles. I truly have never seen such rich green grass and blue sky before. This weekend away recharged my SOUL. I genuinely don’t think I’ve felt that sense of peace in a LONG TIME. God really blessed us that weekend and it really left a mark on my heart.
